10 Things You Didn’t Know About Me

Happy Monday!

I read a blog post recently from lexilife95 where she shared a ton of random things that her readers and followers didn’t know about her and I thought it was a great idea! I love getting to know people and learning interesting things about them and occasionally stumbling upon those weird, crazy things that you have in common.Anyway, I promised I would be stealing that idea so here it is!

I’m an author
It still feels really weird to say, but it’s true. I self-published my first novel Serendipity in October of 2015 and I’m working on my second novel right now. You can check out my novel here

I Have 3 Dogs

I have a beagle named Jake who enjoys sleeping in the sun, hiding dog bones in the yard, and howling obnoxiously at people walking down the street.
Bella is a mini Pomeranian (the dark brown one). She enjoys ice cream, long walks down the street, and sleeping on the stairs.
Our newest puppy is Jacoby, the black and white pom. We got him in February and he enjoys… well, everything because he’s a puppy. But he really enjoys running like a wild dingo, cuddling, and sitting on the dishwasher when it’s open. I’m serious. I have a proof.
The big photo on the top left is Diesel. I’d had Diesel since elementary school and he was the dog I’d had the strongest connection with. He had a lot of health problems due to old age (he made it to 13) so last year on May 26th, 2015 we had to have him put down. I still consider him one of my dogs and miss him everyday. I can’t believe it’s been nearly a year. I still feel him here. I even keep his ashes beside my bed.

I’ve lost almost 50 pounds
Sometimes it’s easy for me to forget about my accomplishments because they’ve taken me years to achieve, but as I write this post I’m down 48.4 pounds which is a lot! I’ll hit my goal, I just have to keep moving!

My favorite movie of all time is Hope Floats
You’ve probably never heard of it because most people haven’t, which is absolutely crazy to me, but it’s the best! Sandra Bullock and Harry Connick Jr. are perfection!

Bernice Pruitt: At home we had a pet skunk. Mama used to call it Justin Matisse. Do you think that’s just a coincidence? All day long she would to scream, “You stink Justin Matisse!” Then one day she just picked up a club and killed it.

Justin Matisse: Now that’s a sad story.
Bernice Pruitt: If you liked the skunk, which we didn’t.

“Childhood is what you spend the rest of your life trying to overcome. That’s what momma always says. She says that beginnings are scary, endings are usually sad, but it’s the middle that counts the most. Try to remember that when you find yourself at a new beginning. Just give hope a chance to float up. And it will, too…”

I have 2 Habitat for Humanity Trips planned
Travel is one my favorite things in the world and in July I’ll be going to Honduras and then I’ll be jetting off to Kenya in September!

My favorite authors include…
Jamie McGuire, Dan Brown, Dean Koontz, & Simone Elkeles.

I’ve traveled to 15 of 50 states
Michigan, Ohio, Kentucky, Tennessee, Alabama, Florida, Georgia, Texas, Colorado, Mississippi, Arkansas, Missouri, Louisiana, North Carolina, & South Carolina.

My top food weaknesses include…
Pizza, ice cream, and french fries. I can say no to most things, but these are tough!

The meaning behind the name of my blog
I’m sure you’ve wondered, “what exactly does Fit & Flawed mean? It doesn’t sound very positive…”
Well, coming up with a name was tough! And my first choices were all taken, but then I thought about ‘fit & flawed.’ Perfect! This is a journey towards being healthy and fit and if you read my posts you are well aware that this is not a perfect journey! I make a lot of mistakes. I have a lot of learning to do and a lot of healthy habits to work on so that is where the ‘flawed’ comes in. I know that I’ll never completely break my habits of being a little too lazy, giving into temptation, overeating, or stress eating. Even though I can do better, I’ll always have to fight against these habits. One day, I may be thin and look super fit, but inside I know I’ll have struggles. That’s the reality. We all have monsters to face and I’m on this journey to kick my monster’s ass. He’ll always be lurking and he’ll always win some battles, but I will always win the war. I named my blog in honor of my flaws. I’ve learned to quit avoiding them and hiding from them. I’m embracing them.

I love day trips
Day trips are my favorite. I love spending warm, sunny days going to places like The Toledo Zoo or Greenfield Village; two of my obsessions! On rainy days my favorite spots are museums like the Henry Ford!

I look forward to posting another ‘get to know me’ blog soon!

What are your weaknesses?
Do you have any pets?
What is your favorite movie?

Thanks for reading!

  1. Loved the post! 🙂
My weakness is food in general, but I am huge nacho lover. No and nacho just can’t go in the same sentence for me. haha
I’m also a huge animal lover and have 6 pets including 2 dogs, a cat, turtle, cockatiel, and a rabbit. Zoie is our newest edition and she’s a Pomeranian mixed with…something. haha
I honestly can’t choose a favorite movie. Maybe I could, but I would be here for a very long time. 🙂

Food is most definitely a weakness… My reason for weight loss lol
I would totally have a zoo if I could!
Choosing a favorite movie is so tough but Hope Floats holds so much special meaning for me, it just has to be my favorite!
