Weekend Recap: Workouts & A Dinner Out

Sundays are one of my favorite and least favorite days of the week. I work all day on Sundays, but it’s still relaxing. I don’t have to go to my day job. I get to stay home and do homework, blog, work on my next book, etc. I can do whatever I feel like and I love it! On the down side, I know the next day is Monday and my time at home is so limited.

Sunday started out really slow and for some reason, my appetite just wasn’t as big as usual. I knew I really shouldn’t skip breakfast so I ate a late breakfast of fruit salad and… can you guess? Yes, it was a Quest bar. I’ve got to cut back on those.

I spent most of the day working from home and finally convinced myself to go workout in the afternoon. I don’t know what it was, but I was not in the mood for working out on Sunday, but I did it anyway! I did 30 squats, 30 sit-ups, and 30 push-ups at home and then went on a long walk. It obviously wasn’t anything strenuous, but I was glad I got some activity in! I’ve been slacking on my C25K because I only use the treadmill for those sessions and it’s in the dark basement. It’s been way to warm and sunny in Michigan to be stuck inside! I just haven’t gained enough running confidence to run outside yet.

I was starving after my workout and I knew that if I waited until dinner to eat I’d binge and overeat so I grabbed some Kangaroo pita chips (9 for 3 points) and 2 TBSP of classic hummus for a snack to hold me over until dinner.

Dinner was an excellent way to end a Sunday; pineapple salmon, a slice of baguette lathered in oil and seasoning, grilled asparagus, and a baked potato. I forgot to take a post-dinner photo, but I should have! I ate all of my salmon and bread, most of my asparagus, and about half of my potato.

Later on, I was craving ice cream so I grabbed an ice cream Snickers bar. It’s 9 points for the entire thing, and I ate less than half before tossing it, so dessert added up to about 4 points. All I needed was a couple little bites and my craving was completely satisfied.

I’ve really been struggling with my daily green tea so I started my Monday morning with a tall cup of green tea and a banana on the way to work. After work I met up with a few friends for dinner.

I got so caught up in talking that I totally forgot to take a photo of dinner, but I definitely splurged last night. I drank lemon water and Diet Pepsi and then got a chicken sandwich with french fries for dinner. Delicious, and I only dipped into my weeklies a little bit because of my lowered appetite the past few days. I’m still on track!

I was at the restaurant for nearly three and a half hours so it was after nine by time I got home and I was still pretty awake after being out so I took advantage of my energy to get some writing time in!

As soon as I woke up this morning I pulled on some workout clothes, grabbed a banana, and headed out for a long walk before settling in for a long day of work from home. I’ll be out of town for the long weekend so I have a lot to get ahead on today!

I’m going to try to post at least two updates a week so they’re not as long as the last! Thanks for reading!

  1. I like to make oatmeal with strawberries in the morning, and if I know I am going to have really busy mornings I will prep some over night cherry pie oats. Oatmeal, chia seeds, milk, peanut butter all mixed together and I top it off with greek yogurt and frozen cherries. Put the i the fridge over night and in the morning yup!
