Whole Wheat Pancakes

My breakfasts are usually quick and on-the-go, but I love sitting down to a big spread every once in a while. As much as we all love a big breakfast it can be high in calories, processed sugar, and other unhealthy things. So I decided to make a healthy substitute; whole wheat pancakes!

Ingredients:
2 cups of whole wheat flour
1/3 cup of sugar
2 tablespoons of baking powder
1/4 teaspoon of salt
2.5 cups of low-fat milk (I used almond milk instead)
1/2 cup of fat-free egg substitute
1 tablespoon of canola oil

Steps:
1. Whisk flour, sugar, baking powder and salt together.

2. Whisk milk, egg substitute, and oil in a separate bowl. 

3. Add the liquid mixture to the solid mixture and stir until the batter becomes lumpy.

4. Set the pan over medium heat after spraying the pan generously with non-stick spray. Pour 1/4 cup of batter into the pan and flip after about 3 minutes, or until bubbles appear throughout the batter.

4. Enjoy!

I paired my pancakes with two slices of bacon, watermelon, and strawberries. They were delicious and super filling. All it took was two pancakes to fill me up before my workout! Next time I’ll be adding blueberries or maybe some chocolate chips for a little something sweet!
